David Kazan is the owner and founder of Captivating Worlds.
David is a business and technology consultant with over 30 years of experience working in various industries including pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, computer hardware, publishing and healthcare. David’s projects have often involved redesigning inefficient processes for simplicity and effectiveness. He worked as the senior technology executive at an acute care hospital for ten years working with physicians and staff on medical record automation. In addition, he was an early pioneer in the use of long distance technologies, having created a nationwide virtual, live classroom and computer based testing network that supported the rapid expansion of Pfizer’s salesforce. He also founded, produced, and directed numerous corporate and public conferences and events, including major, annual robotics events webcast by NASA and a significant, multi-acre, indoor/outdoor, charity haunted house event, requiring the management of hundreds of volunteers while attendees numbered in the thousands.
David has been heavily involved in community activities including mentoring high school students in FIRST electronic technology and presentation skills as well as volunteering to deliver food to the elderly and directing audio recordings for the Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Red Mill Museum Village in Clinton, NJ, on the Board of Directors for the Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program in Flemington, NJ, and established a 403b organization Cougar Robotics, Inc in Montgomery, NJ for the benefit of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education. Currently, he serves as Board Treasurer of the Actors’ Theatre of Columbus, a group that stages free, classic plays in Schiller Park during the summer months as well as performs community outreach to underprivileged neighborhoods and constituencies.
David holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, and an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston. Apart from business and management experience, he has developed skills in many technical areas relevant to the needs of Captivating Worlds including synchronized and animated lighting controllers, DMX protocol fixtures, full featured show controllers, prop controllers, robotics technologies, pneumatics, script writing, show production, and set/prop building & design. Originally from the Boston area, David moved from central New Jersey in 2016, and currently lives in New Albany, Ohio with his wife Mary.
